ECHOCAT is the iPhone and iPad companion for POTACAT, the desktop app for amateur radio operators chasing Parks on the Air (POTA), Summits on the Air (SOTA), Worldwide Bunkers on the Air (WWBOTA), Tiles on the Air and DX. Connect your iPad or iPhone to your shack computer from anywhere in the world. POTACAT Cloud Tunnel (optional subscription) handles the remote connection with no router config, no port forwarding, and no VPN setup — it’s the easiest path. If you prefer to bring your own networking, ECHOCAT also works over Tailscale, WireGuard, or 44NetConnect. On your local network, ECHOCAT works out of the box for free. From any of these paths you have comprehensive remote control of your shack, allowing you to work all your favorite modes. Remote SSB, CW, FT8 and SSTV! Imagine you're stuck in that long line at the supermarket and you get a notification your buddy is on a summit. Just open up ECHOCAT, QSY to their frequency and call them on single side band with the Push to Talk button. Or send a CW Macro. Or connect your TinyMIDI from N6ARA and send them your fist. Snap a photo and mock up a quick SSTV and bounce it off the ionosphere. Or my most used mode - chase rare DX on FT8 (and FT4 and FT2) when you wake up in the middle of the night for a quick run to the powder room. It's really that easy -- then log it all with one click. Slick! Select the entities you want to chase (POTA, SOTA, DX Clusters, WWFF, LLOTA, Tiles on the Air) and the region you want to see (North America, South America, Europe, etc), and enjoy two views: SPOTS View - See all the spots in a nice, large view showcasing the operator's callsign, name, distance from your QTH, mode and park/summit MAP View - See a beautiful map with pins at all the activating spots. Click a spot to see their callsign, 1-click tune to them by pressing "QSY" and work the contact on SSB or CW. DIRECTORY view shows a list of current and upcoming HF nets, as well as Short Wave Listening (SWL) stations. Now you can tune into a net on a long drive and chat with your buddies, or catch the latest from Voice of Turkey. By utilizing the SDR connection, you can connect ECHOCAT to your favorite KiwiSDR or WebSDR so you can listen to spots and nets even when your shack rig is unavailable.
