Terms of Service
Last updated: May 28, 2026
By using AppScout you're agreeing to these terms. We've tried to write them clearly. If anything's unclear, email hello@tinyappstudio.io and we'll explain.
What AppScout is
AppScout is a web app at appscout.gallerythat helps indie developers research the Apple App Store. Features include chart browsing, momentum signals, similar-app search, screenshot analysis, download/revenue estimates, and a chatbot (“Scout”) that answers questions about app ideas. We're an independent project — not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Apple.
Your account
- You must be at least 13 years old to use AppScout.
- You're responsible for the activity that happens under your account.
- Keep your password secure. If you suspect it's compromised, change it from the account menu or use the password reset flow.
- One person per account. Don't share credentials — create separate accounts if multiple people on a team need access.
- Don't impersonate anyone or sign up with an email you don't control.
Acceptable use
Don't:
- Scrape, crawl, or programmatically extract bulk data from AppScout. We provide signals + chat as a product, not a wholesale data feed.
- Resell or redistribute AppScout's data, screenshots, or estimates as your own product.
- Try to circumvent rate limits, payment gates, or feature gates.
- Use AppScout to harass, defame, or attack any person or company — the platform is for research, not for harm.
- Probe, scan, or otherwise attempt to break our infrastructure. If you find a security issue, please report it responsibly to hello@tinyappstudio.io.
- Use the service for anything illegal where you live or where our servers run.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules, usually after a warning where reasonable.
Subscriptions and payments
AppScout offers a free tier and paid subscription tiers (Pro, Operator). When you subscribe:
- Payments are processed by Polar.sh, our Merchant of Record. Polar handles billing, tax, and refund processing on our behalf. Their terms apply to the payment portion of your interaction.
- Subscriptions renew automatically each billing period (monthly or annual, depending on the plan you choose) until you cancel.
- You can cancel any time from the customer portal linked in your account menu. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period — no further charges, but you keep paid features until then.
- Refunds are generally not issued for partial periods, but if something legitimately went wrong (we were down, you were double-charged, etc.) email us and we'll figure it out.
- Prices are in USD. We may change pricing for future billing periods; we'll give at least 30 days' notice for any price increase affecting your existing subscription.
App Store data
The app data on AppScout (rankings, ratings, descriptions, screenshots, developer names) is sourced from Apple's public App Store APIs and web pages. We don't claim ownership of any of it — it belongs to the respective developers and to Apple.
Our download/revenue estimates are computed predictions, not verified figures. They are intended for directional research, not financial decisions or claims about individual companies. They are shown as ranges with confidence labels — treat them accordingly.
App developers: if you'd like your app removed from AppScout's indexed data, email us with proof of ownership and we'll process the request within 14 days.
Your content
You retain full ownership of anything you create on AppScout — your watchlists, drawers, and Scout chat history are yours. By using the service, you grant us a limited license to store and process that content solely to provide the service to you. We will never sell or publicize your private content.
You can delete your account and all your content at any time by emailing hello@tinyappstudio.io.
Intellectual property
AppScout's codebase, designs, signal definitions, estimation model, and brand (name, logo, the cyan rocket) are owned by us. You may not copy, modify, or build a derivative service from our codebase or branding without written permission.
If you write about AppScout publicly (blog posts, social, comparison articles), please link back. If you embed our estimates or screenshots, credit AppScout with a link.
Service availability
We do our best to keep AppScout running, but we make no uptime guarantee. Things break. Maintenance happens. Third-party providers (Cloudflare, Supabase, Apple) sometimes have outages outside our control. We'll be transparent when issues happen.
Scout chat responses depend on OpenAI's API and may be slower or unavailable during their outages.
Disclaimer
AppScout is provided as-is and as-available. We don't guarantee that signals, estimates, similar-app matches, or Scout's responses are accurate, complete, or appropriate for any particular purpose. Treat them as research inputs, not final answers.
Decisions you make based on AppScout — what to build, what to price, how to position your app — are your own. We are not responsible for outcomes of those decisions.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim related to AppScout is capped at the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (or USD $50 for free users).
We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages — for example, lost profits, lost data, or lost business opportunities.
Termination
You can stop using AppScout any time. Email us to delete your account.
We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. We'll usually warn you first unless the violation is severe (e.g., abuse, fraud, or security threats).
Changes to these terms
If we make material changes, we'll update the “Last updated” date and notify signed-in users by email. Continued use after the notice means you accept the new terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where AppScout's operator is based. Disputes will be resolved in the appropriate court there, unless mandatory consumer protection laws in your country require otherwise.
